Cork Board Refashion/Coordination

We saw these two adorable mini-cork boards on clearance and had to get them.
The problem was that they absolutely didn't match our house, let alone the kitchen. If you've ever been in that situation before, this post is for you. So often things can be passed up (great deals, usually) because they don't seem to match the decor of our homes. With just a few adjustments, it's pretty easy to make things fit right in, though!
These were the perfect example.
With just a little bit of acrylic paint + a sharpie (for the fine detailing), I covered up the original orange and red, turning them entirely pink!
(if you want to make these yourself, read below)
If you want your own little fridge cork boards, it's pretty simple. You can purchase mini-corks in packs of four nearly anywhere. Then just trace the shape on, cut it with an Xacto knife and paint in the details. Thankfully these aren't very intense. The bird is merely a sideways heart + a swoosh. The owl is a combo of easy lines + a little triangle. Lastly, glue some magnets on the back (any craft store) and add some push pins.
So the next time you see some decor you *love* but doesn't match your home, ask yourself if a little paint, ribbon, fabric, sharpie or any other medium can fix the problem!
Are you ready for Christmas? I'm not! Ha! We're going to get some good shopping in this weekend and hopefully cross some people off from our lists. All the best to YOU and as always, thanks for reading!
